Determine product and service scope
The European Accessibility Act is Directive (EU) 2019/882. Applicability depends on the covered product/service, actor, national implementing measures and relevant exceptions. This guide is a scoping/evidence workflow and does not decide whether your organisation is covered or certify conformity.
Map requirements to an actual service
List the service’s customer journeys, devices, documents and support channels. Ask a qualified reviewer to identify applicable requirements and references. Keep that mapping separate from a generic WCAG automated score. A web checker alone cannot assess every product or service feature.
Worked customer journey
For an online purchase flow, review finding a product, understanding the offer, account entry, payment interaction and confirmation. Capture error states and relevant documents. Identify which components are controlled by you and which depend on a supplier so remediation can be routed to an accountable owner.
Maintain evidence and information
Record the evaluated version, test methods, environments, findings and completed corrections. Use an accessibility statement that accurately describes scope and remaining limitations. Consult the official directive and local authority guidance for the particular information and documentation obligations that apply.
Review changes and dependencies
Revisit the assessment after a major interface, payment, document or platform change. Ask suppliers for evidence covering the actual component version in use. If scope or an exception is unresolved, record the question for legal review rather than changing a technical checklist result into a legal conclusion.
